THE 7th Bright Leaf Agriculture Journalism Award is again searching the country’s best stories and photos in the tri-media across the country which revolutionize Philippine agriculture.
David Isaac Buenaventura, Bright Leaf project director, said they are looking for the best agriculture stories and photos in print, radio, and television, with special attention on the impact of current agricultural issues and best farming practices on environmental safety and crop sustainability.
The search, which is open to all professional Filipino journalists residing in the Philippines, aims to heighten tri-media practitioners’ participation by actively searching a bigger number of nominees from more agricultural provinces while at the same time sustaining and strengthening ties with previously covered provinces.
The major awards are Agricultural Photo of the Year, Tobacco photo of the Year, Agriculture Story of the Year, Tobacco Story of the Year and The Oriental Life of the Year.
Minor awards are Best Agriculture TV Program/ Segment, Best Agriculture Radio Program/ Segment, Best Agricultural News Story (National and Regional Level) and Best Agricultural Feature Story (National and Regional Level).

The minor awards winner will get P20,000 cash prize, an iPad Mini, PAA artist trophy and Asian trip.
Participation is free of charge. Entries should be published, aired or broadcast locally between September 1, 2012 and August 31, 2013.
Contestants can submit as many stories in any of the categories but no story can be entered in more than one category.
Entries may be in English or any of the Philippine regional dialects provided they will have English translation of their works as some of the judges are foreigners.
Submission period begins on April 30, 2013 and ends on August 31, 2013 at 12 noon.
